Yoruba Crown
Recently, my interest in African art has increased. I have quite a nice, albeit small, collection of Yoruba beadwork: a belt and 5 crowns. Very cool!

Moose
Cole Coffee in the Rockridge is a happening place in ways that the other cafés we frequent aren't. Today we spoke with Moose who talked about his Baby Taylor guitar. He played a couple of blues riffs and sounded like someone I'd like to listen to.

Yoruba Crown
Went to a wedding shower today. Usually, I don't enjoy this type of gathering, but this one was a lot of fun. For one thing it was held early enough to leave some time in the rest of the day to do other things. I used the extra time to take a long nap.

Late Summer
There's not been a 'snap' yet summer is definitely waning. Most of the roses in the backyard are gone. I might do some light pruning to see if I could coax a few more blooms...

When a Bee Lies Sleepin'
Blogged with Flock
When a bee lies sleepin'
In the palm o' your hand
You're bewitch'd and deep in love's
Long look'd after land
Where you'll see a sun-up sky
With the mornin' new
And where the days go laughin' by
As love comes a-calling on you
Sleep on, bee, don't waken,
Can't believe what just passed
He's mine for the takin'
I am happy at last.
Maybe I dreams, but he seems
Sweet golden as a crown,
A sleepin' bee done told me
I will walk with my feet off the ground
When my one true love I has found
Sleep on, bee, don't waken,
Can not believe what just passed
He's mine for the takin'
I am happy at last...
Maybe I dreams, but he seems
Golden as a crown,
A sleepin' bee told me
I will walk with my feet off the ground
When my one true love
I has found...

Summer Is Waning
Another glorious summer day. But strangely the leaves are already starting to turn. There hasn't been a snap in the air and yet Autumn seems imminent. Time is passing. Watch, as it goes by.

Red, Red Rose
Makes me forget that I still need you so
Red red wine
It's up to you
All I can do I've done
Memories won't go
Memories won't go
I have sworn every time
Thoughts of you would leave my head
I was wrong, now I've found
Just one thing makes me forget...
Red red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart
My blue blue heart
I have sworn every time
Thoughts of you would leave my head
I was wrong, now I've found
Just one thing makes me forget...
Red red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart
My blue blue heart
Red red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearing apart
My blue blue heart

Big Love
The Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A.
by Danna Fargo
Verse 1:
(D7)Good morn-in' (G)morning, hello (D7)sun shine
(C)Wake up sleep-y head
(G)Why'd we move that (G7)bo-jan-gle clock
So (D)far a-way from the (D7)bed
Just one more (G)minute
Thats why we (D)moved it
(C)One more hug or two
Do you (D)love wakin' up next to me
As much as I love wakin' up next to (G)you
Verse 2:
(D)You make the (G)coffee, I'll make the (D7)bed
I'll fix (C)your lunch and you fix mine
Now (G)tell me the truth
(G7)Do those old shoes look (D)funny, honey
It's almost (D7)time
Now (C)you be careful, gotta (D)go
I love you, (G)have a beautiful (C)day
And kiss the (D)happiest girl
In the (C)whole U.S.(G)A.
Chorus:
(C)Skip-a-dee - doo-dah
(G)Thank you, Lord, for (D)making him for (G)me
And (C)thank you for letting life (G)turn out
The way that I (A7)always thought it could (D7)be
There (G)once was a time
When I could not imagine
(C)How it would feel, to (G)say
I'm the (D)happiest (D7)girl
In the (C)whole U.S.(G)A.

Early Sunday Evening
The lease is signed. The house is cleaned. The new tenants will begin moving in tomorrow. We really put the house together; it's sparkling clean. However, it boggles the mind that people are so enmeshed in learned helplessness. Something about the refrigerator bothered me. When I looked at it carefully I realized that the bins had not been washed. When I took the bins out, I could see that the racks weren't clean, nor the bottom of the shelves. I removed all the shelves and bins, washed them; washed all the interior and exterior surfaces. I like a house to be left the way I would like it if I were moving in.
All that's left is the exterior painting and the gardening. Yeah!

Kitchen Stove
Another day cleaning the kitchen. Today, I went over the stove again and also cleaned the ceiling fan. It's as though the kitchen were never cleaned. I wonder how people can be so oblvious to their surroundings. Unconscious.

Please advise if it is possible to have myself
frozen until the Bush administration is over.
I feel that I am a suitable candidate for

been thoroughly chilled during the

Blush

I've been on a cooking binge. Yesterday, I made gazpacho and tuna salad; today, minestrone.
I love to make soup. There's something about chopping vegetables and slow cooking that makes me happy. Plus, it was just a beautiful day: clear, warm, inviting.
