In Savannah
Starting the day. We will walk to the river.
I don’t know why I love her like I do
All the changes you put me through
Take my money, my cigarettes
I haven’t seen the worst of it yet
I wanna know that you’ll tell me
I love to stay
Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Take me to the river, dip me in the water
Washing me down, washing me down
I don’t know why you treat me so bad
Think of all the things we could have had
Love is an ocean that I can’t forget
My sweet sixteen I would never regret
I wanna know that you’ll tell me
I love to stay
Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Push me in the river, dip me in the water
Washing me down, washing me
Hug me, squeeze me, love me, tease me
Till I can’t, till I can’t, till I can’t take no more of it
Take me to the water, drop me in the river
Push me in the water, drop me in the river
Washing me down, washing me down
I don’t know why I love you like I do
All the troubles you put me through
Sixteen candles there on my wall
And here am I the biggest fool of them all
I wanna know that you’ll tell me
I love to stay
Take me to the river and drop me in the water
Dip me in the river, drop me in the water
Washing me down, washing me down.
I don’t know why I love her like I do

HOLY THURSDAY
And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke; and gave to His disciples, and said: "Take ye and eat. THIS IS MY BODY" And taking the chalice, He gave thanks, and gave to them, saying; "Drink ye all of this." "For this IS MY BLOOD of the New Testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins"

Love is like a deep pool that never dries up
You have more to give than you realize. The only expectation you should have in giving to others is what you expect of yourself. That's how you stay replenished.

Casita
R, said it's been snowing in Santa Fe. Strangely, I feel nostalgic about the snow, which normally I dislike. There's something about the crisp, clean air after a snow that makes one feel energetic. Alive. The picture was taken last summer but it's not too difficult to imagine the snow.
It's raining here, not very cold and the spring bulbs are in bloom. The last day of winter on the first day of spring

Archbishop Romero
Those who believe the United States is a Christian country are delusional. There is nothing in the way the Government behaves to distinguish it from those it calls enemies. Torture. Disappearing. Unjust wars. Continuing impoverishment of the working class. What's the diff? Nothing that indicates that the majority follows Christ.

At Breakfast
At breakfast a beloved asked her lover,
"Who do you love more, yourself or me?'"
"From my head to my foot I have become you.
Nothing remains of me but my name.
You have your wish. Only you exist.
I've disappeared like a drop of vinegar
in an ocean of honey."

Windy March
Yet it's so beautiful it almost hurts. The wind cleared the air, at least visually. I know that, in fact, it simply made the pollen worse.

SOUVENIRS
Souvenirs
© John Prine & Steve Goodman
All the snow has turned to water
Christmas days have come and gone
Broken toys and faded colors
Are all that's left to linger on
I hate graveyards and old pawn shops
For they always bring me tears
I can't forgive the way they rob me
Of my childhood souvenirs
Chorus:
Memories they can't be boughten
They can't be won at carnivals for free
Well it took me years
To get those souvenirs
And I don't know how they slipped away from me
Broken hearts and dirty windows
Make life difficult to see
That's why last night and this mornin'
Always look the same to me
I hate reading old love letters
For they always bring me tears
I can't forgive the way they rob me
Of my sweetheart's souvenirs
(Repeat chorus)

Pearl
Thinking about Janis Joplin. Died young. At the peak of her powers. Went out on a raft of "heroine" never to be heard from again.
Say come on, come on, yeah, come on, come on and take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby.
Break another little piece of my heart, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Have another little piece of my heart, baby, baby, baby,
You know you got it, if it makes you feel good.
I want you to feel good now, yeah!!!

I looked at the silver hands that Rachel gave me and noticed for the first time that they emerge from a grape vine. I thought then of the Eucharist.

Raining Raining Raining
Cold rain. March comes in like a lion. Or in this case a polar bear. Wreaking havoc on the flowering fruit trees and the glorious magnolias.
